Thomas Pocklington Trust Expands Student Support Service to Ages 7+

Date posted: 1st April 2025

Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) is excited to announce the commencement of its expanded Student Support Service, now known as the Education Information Advice and Guidance Service, to include support for students in primary school aged 7 and above. In partnership with Guide Dogs, this service offers expert advice and guidance to support blind and partially sighted students across primary, secondary, further, and higher education.

Starting on Tuesday 1 April 2025, TPT will lead the service delivery, while Guide Dogs will provide experienced staff. Together, the two charities aim to streamline support pathways and offer tailored resources for students, families, and professionals.

One parent who benefited from the service said

“Following the advice and guidance you provided, my son feels more confident to ask for support in class and he feels he can concentrate more. On top of this, his school have been much more responsive in providing support”.

Key Highlights of the Expanded Service
• Now open to primary school students (aged 7+) – Expert advice and guidance to navigate the educational journey, from primary through to higher education and mature learners.
• Phone Line Now Open – Call our Education Support Line, Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm at 0203 757 8040 for direct advice and guidance from an experienced Education Adviser.
• Supporting Families & Professionals – Whether you’re a parent, carer, or professional, we’re here to help navigate the educational journey for blind or partially sighted children.

“I thought I would drop a line to say how impressed I am with the service that I have received with TPT,’ said one recently supported student. ‘I know that I am only at the beginning of this journey… Apart from being totally blind I have very little contact with services such as TPT’s. So, it’s interesting for me to see how smoothly my outcomes are achieved.”
