Get Set Progress offers paid internships tailored for blind and partially sighted individuals, whether you are taking your first step onto the career ladder or returning to work after a career break. Thomas Pocklington Trust has proudly run the programme since 2015, resulting in an impressive 85% of interns transitioning into paid employment within just six months.
Our internship positions are advertised like any other job opening; however, eligibility is exclusive to blind and partially sighted candidates. It’s important to note that individuals who have previously completed a Get Set Progress internship or are currently employed cannot apply. These positions are widely promoted through websites, social media channels, and various job boards.
While we expect applicants to possess basic skills, they are not required to have all the skills necessary for the job. Most internships entail a full-time commitment of 36 hours per week over nine months, with salaries based on the real living wage standards set by the Living Wage Foundation, varying by location.
The programme’s success is made possible through collaboration with RNIB, with intern salaries jointly funded by TPT, RNIB, and the host organisation. Previously, we have had 23 interns engaged in various roles within sight loss organisations across the country.
We have numerous full-time roles on offer across the UK and have partnered with several different organisations to bring you a wide range of opportunities both inside the wider charity and corporate sectors.
The Get Set Progress Internship programme is currently seeking new talent to fill a wide range of exciting roles across the UK for its 2024 series of internship opportunities. We have numerous full-time roles on offer across the UK and have partnered with several different organisations to bring you a wide range of opportunities both inside the wider charity and corporate sectors.
The impact of Get Set Progress is best illustrated through the words of those who have experienced it firsthand.
