Safe Stats: Data on Blind and Partially Sighted Students in Education

There is a huge amount of data out there which can be used to understand the experiences of blind and partially sighted students in education. Our Safe Stats report (2024) is an open resource which brings together a snapshot of the available data in one place.

The Safe Stats report (2024) is intended to be a point of reference for the vision impairment (VI) sector. The document includes a list of key terms, key statistics on different areas of VI in education, a section highlighting the gaps in VI research and data, and a section signposting readers to the resources used, as well as to other useful resources.

It is important to note that this report covers data primarily referring to England.
