Location: Remote with travel to our London office

Salary: Based on Real Living Wage

Contract type: Fixed Term 9 months, full time 36 hours per week

Thomas Pocklington Trust is a national charity dedicated to delivering positive change for blind and partially sighted people.

The primary aim of TPT’s education department is to improve access to education for blind and partially sighted students in secondary school, college, and university. The Student Participation team work to engage with and provide opportunities for blind and partially sighted students, aged 11+, to help their key transitions within education as well as using their insights and experiences to inform the work of the wider Education Team.

As the newest team within TPT’s Education Team, having a Student Participation Intern will help support our work, whilst also playing an instrumental part in developing and expanding our offer. This role will work with young people and students in secondary, further and higher education, supporting their transitions during key times of their education with a focus on socialising, self-advocacy and future planning. The role will also support our Student Voices (18+) programme by recruiting more volunteers, being a main point of contact and developing the impact and scale of their project work.

You will need excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team, be able to plan, prioritise and organise.

To be eligible for this Intern Programme you must have lived experience of sight loss. The programme runs for 9 months, where you will gain valuable work experience and training. You will also have access to a mentor and support to find permanent employment.
