We are thrilled to announce our continued collaboration with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to expand the successful Get Set Progress Internship programme. We are now calling for applications from businesses to be part of the 2025 internship round.
Apply Now: Get Set Progress: Internship Programme 2025/26
Our ambition for the programme continues to grow, and this year, we aim to attract 40 employers to offer blind and partially sighted individuals an exciting internship within their organisations. We welcome employers from all sectors and industries to apply.
Martin O’ Kane, Head of Employment and Higher Education Pathways at RNIB said:
“The GSP programme continues to provide great opportunities for people to try out different areas of work. Employers who take part in the programme learn how to support people with sight loss and break down barriers and at the same time are getting great people to work in their organisations. RNIB are delighted to continue to support this programme and we urge more employers to take part.”
Key Details:
• Duration: 9 months, full-time (36 hours/week)
• Salary: Based on the real living wage from the Living Wage Foundation
• Support: Each intern receives a dedicated training plan, a mentor, and intensive employability support. Employers receive ongoing support from the Internships team, including assistance with advertising roles, recruitment, selection processes, and training on sight loss in the workplace.
• Funding: Employers may be eligible for a grant towards the cost of the intern’s salary.
Since 2015, TPT has run a programme of paid internships, with 85% of interns securing employment within six months of completing the programme.
Josh Feehan, Head of Internships at TPT, said:
“I am thrilled to be launching the programme for 2025. This year, we are celebrating hosting our 100th intern. We have seen the huge impact it has on each intern and the employers, and it is fantastic to be growing again this year. We are looking to recruit businesses from all over the UK.”
Last year’s success:
• 31 interns placed with employers including the NHS, Channel 4, General Optical Council, and many more.
• Internships created in diverse fields such as Communications, finance, HR, performing arts, and sales.
