Achieving Career Goals: Jesse’s Perspective
Jesse Dufton, the trailblazing climber who conquered the towering 449ft pinnacle, the ‘Old Man of Hoy,’ despite his visual impairment, chatted with our Senior Employment Manager, Martin Sigsworth about his career and the invaluable perspectives he gained from climbing.
Jesse recently starred in the documentary “Climbing Blind,” created by filmmaker Alastair Lee. This award-winning film shows Jesse’s awe-inspiring ascent of the Old Man of Hoy. The film is still available on iPlayer, with an audio described version.
When he’s not climbing Jesse is a Patent Engineer at Intelligent Energy. Martin chatted with Jesse’s to understand his carer journey and uncover the challenges and obstacles that have shaped his path. Jesse shared his wisdom and guidance for individuals with visual impairments aiming to embark on or progress in their careers.
